Almost by accident, the business was started after Nigel was annoyed by the poor quality of the PA from a Conservative candidate’s vehicle passing his house advertising an election meeting.

He complained at the meeting and offered to do something about it.

The next day he bought 2 speakers and a 30 watt amplifier - to which Marks Tey Radio began operating from his grandfather’s old photography shop and has continued to grow ever since.

Marks Tey Radio is now ran by his sons and grandsons, who look to bring the business forward into the next generation of audio-visual technology.

Marks Tey Radio was started in 1962 by the owner, Nigel Fitch.

The story begins decades earlier with his grandad, Fred Fitch, who ran a successful photography business and later began delving into the emerging world of radio and TV.

Fred retired in 1952 and, on his advice, Nigel began working in the radio and television trade four years later.
